Psychological debriefing in the workplace is recommended after any distressing or traumatic events to relieve and prevent negative emotional reactions. It aims to help individuals process and reappraise the traumatic experience so that it does not have a lasting impact or lead to vicarious trauma, burnout and psychological distress. This video will discuss debrief in more detail and offer some structures that can be adopted in your settings to utilise this process further.

There is a 'debrief handout' at the bottom of this page to further assist you in the development of regular debrief spaces.
